Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson test the fuel cell technology: Into the desert – B-Class F-CELL serves as water supply

Los Angeles/Stuttgart, Jan 31, 2014

For more than two years the Hollywood stars Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson have been enthusiastic drivers of the B-Class F-CELL, whose only emission is pure water. But they are not the only ones: The Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-CELL is becoming a popular and treasured endurance runner. In the USA alone, an F-CELL fleet made up of some 70 vehicles has covered more than 1.6 million kilometres - saving around 113,500 litres of fuel and almost 270 tonnes of carbon dioxide in the process. A total of around 200 vehicles have been with customers in the USA and Europe since 2010 and one of these vehicles already has 315,000 kilometres on the clock. Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson are now showing in a film just how much potential the fuel cell drive system offers – on a trip in California's Death Valley, one of the driest places in the world.

"We've become absolute fans of the fuel cell. The car usage is so easy. On a day-to-day basis our normal mobility isn't restricted at all - and we had no water problems in Death Valley either", reported Diane Kruger. "It takes three minutes to fill up, drives about 400 kilometres and gives off zero emissions - simply perfect", added Joshua Jackson. In the film "Defying Death Valley" the two of them are driving through the 50 degree Celsius heat of Death Valley – without any drinking water stock. Their lives rely on the emissions of the B-Class F-CELL. The Hollywood stars are using the water, resulting out of the operation of the F-CELL, for drinking and cooking...

What happens when Hollywood stars Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson are trying to survive in the desert only by the water produced by their F-CELL car? Driving the fuel cell technology on a daily basis in Hollywood, the film stars Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson have become enthusiastic about the potential that the fuel cell technology offers. The film explains the advantages of the F-CELL technology on a trip in California's Death Valley, one of the hottest and driest places on earth. Read more on

battery powered vehicles. I wish I could afford one of these and use a solar setup power a hydrogen process and store it in tanks for use during the evenings.

Crazy I know.

Most hydrogen is made from natural gas. Which means that there's a good chance fracking was used to extract it.

Not the best way to fuel vehicles.

I bet the water from the tailpipe is cleaner than the tap water next to the natural gas well.

doesn't mean it has to be made that way in the future

Emeryville Hydrogen Station

Address: 1172 45th St.
Emeryville, CA 94608
Station Status: Open to public
Hours of Operation: 24/7
Hydrogen Source/Storage:
Proton OnSite electrolyzer using 100%
renewable solar-powered electricity

produces 65 kg/day of hydrogen for
passenger vehicles.
Liquid hydrogen storage is provided as a
backup to the electrolyzer

Fountain Valley Hydrogen Station

Ed Heydorn fills a Hyundai Tucson fuel cell vehicle at the new sewage-fed fueling station in Fountain Valley, Calif.

Address: 10844 Ellis Ave
Fountain Valley, CA 92708
Station Status: Open to public
Hours of Operation: 24/7
Hydrogen Source/Storage: Renewable hydrogen produced on site from methane gas generated from wastewater at OCSD treatment plant

CSULA Hydrogen Station
?537
Address: 5151 State University Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90032
Hydrogen Source/Storage: Hydrogenics Electrolyzer: 60kg/day H2
Production

West LA Hydrogen Station

11576 Santa Monica Blvd.
West Los Angeles, CA 90025
Hydrogen Source/Storage: On site electrolyzer (30 kg/day capacity) 44 kg H2 storage at 7,500 PSI

Then there is this:

Maybe instead of sending millions of dollars to Ukraine and bailing out Big Banks some of that money could be used to jumpstart renewable Hydrogen. Or, maybe not.

Hydrogen Trivia: There are 22 LITRES of hydrogen in a TABLESPOON of water.
