OHIO -- Land records show many state parks could see mining, drilling

Sickening.

Land records show many state parks could see mining, drilling
By Randy Ludlow
Sunday October 19, 2014

About 40 percent of Ohio’s natural treasures — its state parks, forests and wildlife and nature preserves — could be undermined in the quest to remove valuable coal, oil, natural gas and other minerals.

Mineral rights owned by other parties could permit mining or drilling in parts of 18 state forests, 24 state parks and 53 natural areas, according to an analysis of state land records by The Dispatch.

Even the parcel holding one of the crown jewels of Ohio’s park system — Old Man’s Cave in Hocking Hills State Park southeast of Columbus — potentially could be drilled for oil and natural gas.

All told, parcels containing more than 117,000 acres, about 20 percent of the park and forest land owned by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, could be mined and drilled....

I'm sure you know this THP, but this is why Kasich and the ODNR (Ohio Destruction of Natural Resources) were secretly plotting on how to spin fracking in State Parks to the public. Their emails were made public, so at least we might be spared the spin. And the Koch brothers & other energy interests such as Halliburton contributed heavily (paid) to get Tea Party Kasich elected in Ohio. Its paying off better than they could possibly have imagined. Not just this, its the unregulated fracking and massive toxic radioactive waste disposal in Ohio. Approving a barge facility to be built in Ohio along the Ohio River so that even more waste can come up from TX & LA. He put a freeze on renewable energy programs. I could go on...Thanks for posting.

But years from now when Ohio's parks, forests and waterways are polluted, decimated wastelands people will regret their vote for Kaisch. You know if he wins they'll put him up for President in2016.

I can never understand how sane people vote for rethugs and think they will be representing their interests. Like the couple who are voting for him who are union members who opposed the anti union bill tht passed and he stabbed them in the back and went against the will of the people. There must be some brainwashing chemicals in their water out there in Ohio.

He's up by like 30 points. I think they had a republican plant nominate our Democratic nominee for governor. He's a no name who went for years in his 30s without renewing his drivers license. He went so long, to get it back, he had to have a learners permit first. And when news came out about an affair, he blatantly used the struggle his family went through back when his son had cancer to try to deflect the coverage. He's toast. I'm voting for him, but its really just a vote against Kasich.

I hope Kasich does run in 2016, he will be easy to hate for most sane Americans. As long as we don't have an idiot running against him. (Elizabeth Warren 2016!!!!!)

I moved here for my job earlier this year. I'm pretty much astounded by what's been happening.

I forgot the Democratic party isn't against fracking except for an isolated few, and Hillary was the one pushing it to begin with...

Then we have this, the man will appeal to independents by sounding reasonable about Obamacare~
