A Nato soldier has been killed in an attack near Bagram airbase in eastern Afghanistan, bringing to seven the number of foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan so far this year, according to Associated Press.

~snip~

In a statement on Wednesday, Nato said the “enemy attack” happened on Tuesday near Bagram airfield, 30 miles from the capital, Kabul. The statement gave no other details about the attack or nationality of the soldier.

Bagram, which is guarded by US Marines and partnered forces, frequently comes under rocket attack from militants.

Fighting in Afghanistan has escalated since most foreign forces withdrew last year, and Afghan forces are bearing the brunt of the conflict.
