Freedom of expression on trial in Turkey; condemning North Korea; TB in Brazil's prisons; Obama and Argentina's 'Dirty War'; fear and prejudice in North Carolina
* The trial in Istanbul of two prominent journalists demonstrates the huge restrictions on the media and reporters in Turkey, as well as the president and governments determination to suppress all critical reporting, Human Rights Watch said today.
**US President Barack Obama wrapped up a two-day visit to Argentina that coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Argentine military coup, which ushered in an era of brutal attacks on people perceived as dissidents, including executions, torture, and the abduction of detainees babies. ( Obama vows to declassify documents that may expose US complicity in Argentine "dirty war."

***Its been a daunting year for transgender youth. Over the past three months, lawmakers in more than a dozen states have introduced bills to bar transgender students from using bathrooms that match their gender identity. Yesterday, fear and prejudice won out in North Carolina.
