Related: About this forumRex Tillerson Russia and Exxon Neftegan (AKA ENL)
On Dec. 18, 2016 it was reported that Rex Tillerson (the fascist party's nominee for Sec. of State) is the long-time director of a US-Russian oil firm based in the tax haven of the Bahamas.
The report is based off of leaked 2001 documents that were leaked to a German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung and to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists in Washington DC.
A story I found helpful about the leaked documents is here:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/dec/18/leak-rex-tillerson-director-bahamas-based-us-russian-oil-company?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
I took some notes on the article and snooped around a tiny bit about this new info. Notes follow:
Tillerson has been an officer in ENL since 1998. The company has officers in Houston, Moscow, and Sakhalin in Russia's far east.
ENLs most important project is Sakhalin -l. Sakhalin Island is located just north of Japan. The consortium of companies supporting Sakhalin is made up of companies from Russia, USA, India and Japan.
In 2013, Putin awarded Tillerson the Russian Order of Friendship.
Tillerson is friendly with Igor Sechin, Sechin is head of the State oil company Rosneft. Sechin is ex KGB.
In Russia, Sechin is 2nd in power only to Putin. He is barred from entering the USA. If he is allowed in, it is reported he wants to motorcycle across the country with his good friend Rex Tillerson.
Tillerson needs to be confirmed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Rubio and McCain are balking, sort of.
If Tillerson and Putins other puppet lift sanctions against Russia, Exxons stock will rise. Tillerson owns $218 million in stock. His pension is worth about 70 million.
Sakhalin Island came under Russian control at the end of WWII when Russia battled it out with the Japanese just before the USA finally defeated Japan.
The Russians made the island a penal colony back when. Writer Anton Chekhov visited the penal colony.
In 1983, Russians shot down Korean Air Flight 007 when the plane flew over the island. Killed 269 people. Including John Bircher and U.S. Congressman Larry McDonald from Georgia.
The law firm in the Bahamas that set up the ENL was Higgs and Johnson. The law firm's current senior partner Philip C. Dunkley was trained at Wycliffe College in Gloucestershire England.

(2,573 posts)If yes, can you add notes as to what the German article is saying?
An accompanying article to the Tillerson piece in the German paper was google translated as this:
Rich, white and without government experience
The future US president is creating a cabinet in his image: Most nominated ministers are businessmen, who obviously do not think politics are too difficult. From Sacha

(36,289 posts)I mostly read experimental lab procedures, which have a limited set of vocabulary ... same words used over and over and over ...
I am currently enrolled in adult education German courses, trying to better my skills. That first google sentence seems like a better translation than my first attempt though.
I added a direct link, so the spelling shouldn't bother anyone anyway. Gotta watch for those un-American text characters ! No "English" button at the site, it is a regional paper, so not worth the cost of translating everything.

(2,573 posts)This seems creepy. How can women work and still be fertile?
https://www.mysciencework.com/publication/show/864b283192ea65d09d2eadb6c2941455
Abstract A simultaneous-equations model of Soviet fertility and labor-force participation is estimated from a cross section of 72 oblast's of the Russian Republic (RSFSR) reported in the 1970 census. The construction of the model is based on the neoclassical theory of household behavior. Simulated changes capture effects of policy changes in the exogenous variables on Soviet fertility and the female labor supply. Evidence of a backward-bending female labor-sunoly curve is found.
