No need for Shinzo Abe: Trump already nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

OSLO (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is not saying whether or not he nominated Donald Trump for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, but the question may be moot: the U.S. president has been put forward by others for the prestigious award.

During a White House news conference on Friday, Trump said the Japanese premier had given him “the most beautiful copy” of a five-page nomination letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

Since then Abe has declined to say whether he had done so. Regardless, Trump has already been nominated by two Norwegian lawmakers.

“We have nominated him of course for the positive developments on the Korean Peninsula,” Per-Willy Amundsen, who was Justice Minister in Prime Minister Erna Solberg’s cabinet in 2016-2018, told Reuters.

Here are the criteria for nominators:

Members of national assemblies and national governments (cabinet members/ministers) of sovereign states as well as current heads of states
Members of The International Court of Justice in The Hague and The Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague
Members of l’Institut de Droit International
Members of the Executive Committee of the international board of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom
University professors, professors emeriti and associate professors of history, social sciences, law, philosophy, theology, and religion; university rectors and university directors (or their equivalents); directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes
Persons who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize
Members of the main board of directors or its equivalent of organizations that have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize
Current and former members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee (proposals by current members of the Committee to be submitted no later than at the first meeting of the Committee after 1 February)
Former advisers to the Norwegian Nobel Committee

I think we can safely assume that any number of Trump's cult members and sycophants in Congress have nominated him, or will do so. Fortunately the award isn't given out on the basis of how many nominating letters a person gets. The rules also say you can't nominate yourself, although he probably tried.

He has stated that his political rolemodel is Margaret Thatcher.

In early 2019 Amundsen spark a huge debate in Norway when he suggested for child support for non-western immigrants to be cut to stop them from "producing more children" and halt a possible decline of "ethnic Norwegians" in the population. While gaining some support among far-right outlets like resett.no, most of the media and several ranking politicians denounced Amundsen intentions and tone of speech as racist and out of line with the principles of Norwegian politics and community.

Amundsen supports oil exploration off the Lofoten archipelago, a major breeding ground for Atlantic cod. He also supports the involvement of Statoil, the Norwegian oil and gas company where the state of Norway is the majority shareholder, in exploitation of oil sands.

Amundsen defines himself as climate sceptic. He has argued that climate problems are used to conduct socialist policies, saying that "for many socialists, CO2 has replaced Karl Marx".

He's just like Trump, no wonder he nominated him!!!

Christian Tybring-Gjedde, isn't much better then Amundsen!
