Russian army lists soldiers in Ukraine as being in Russia to avoid paying combat-bonuses.
One of these intercepted phone-calls is from July 2022 from a russian soldier in Ukraine to his parents. He complains that he doesn't get combat-payouts on top of his salary because according to the army-administration he is currently in a barrack somewhere in Russia.
I have heard this before.
I think, it's simple wage-theft.
Step 1: Ask the government for money for paying combat-bonuses to your soldiers fighting in Ukraine.
Step 2: List the soldiers as being in Russia and don't pay them the bonus.
Step 3: Keep the money.
And the nice part is, you know that the russian government cannot put you on trial for theft, because then they would have to admit that this crime happened.
Look at what happened with Sergej Magnitsky: Murdered by a corrupt cabal of russian judges and policemen because he discovered that they embezzled russian taxpayer-money with forged documents.
And when it all blew up, the russian attorney-general covered up their crimes, because he cannot put these corrupt judges and cops on trial because then he would have to admit that there are corrupt judges and corrupt cops in Russia.
