Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif submitted on Friday a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon proposing a four-point peace plan for the conflict in Yemen, Anadolu reported.
"I would like to draw your attention to the extremely alarming situation in Yemen," Zarif said in the letter, calling the Operation Decisive Storm a "provocative foreign military" campaign.
He described it a "flagrant defiance of the most basic principles of international law" and the Charter of the United Nations, "in particular the obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force in international relations."
Zarif described the situation in Yemen a "critical" and "is escalating" a humanitarian crisis as the conflict is soon to face catastrophic dimensions. He warned that this situation might result in further "exacerbation of the already tense circumstances in a region."
