Kulanu balks at Likud demand to weaken Israel's Supreme Court

Even Likud members sounded uncertain as to whether Netanyahu really wanted the bills passed, or simply intended to do what he did last term: allow them to begin the legislative process but then kill them before they passed their final Knesset reading.

One bill would enable the Knesset to override Supreme Court rulings that declare a law unconstitutional. Another would alter the composition of the committee that appoints Supreme Court justices. Neither has yet been finalized, but both are expected to differ significantly from similar bills presented by Likud and Habayit Hayehudi in the last Knesset.

Good for Kahlon. This is dangerous, fascist legislation.

1. Netanyahu doesn't have very much time to form the coalition, I understand...

I just read somewhere that the extension was granted this week from Rivlon, and is down to his last days before having to lose the chance to form the coalition.

I do believe Zionist Union will create a coalition easily. It's had over six weeks to arrange it, probably had Herzog talk to Kahlon before making the final decision.

Likudniks needs to be corralled a little bit, even if it has to go left to prove them wrong.

2 week extension a couple of days ago. After that either the zionist union gets its shot at forming a government, or new elections are held. More likely the former than the latter.
