Canada's parliament passed a motion formally condemning the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel.
The motion passed Monday in a 229-51 vote, CIJ News reported. Introduced last week by members of the opposition Conservative Party, the motion won support from the ruling Liberal Party as well.
It calls on the Canadian government to condemn any and all attempts by Canadian organizations, groups or individuals to promote the BDS movement, both here at home and abroad.
In addition, the motion notes Canada and Israels long history of friendship as well as economic and diplomatic relations. The motion says the BDS movement promotes the demonization and delegitimization of the State of Israel.

Another failure for the bds movement. That's what happens when the haters you embrace get near a microphone.

In recent months, the BDS movement has hit several hurdles in Spain and Europe.
Earlier this month Britains government announced it would pass laws that would expose promoters of a boycott against Israel to prosecution.
In France, which has had such a law since 2003, the countrys highest court of appeals in October confirmed earlier rulings that found promoters of a boycott against Israel guilty of inciting hate or discrimination.

(26,748 posts)Looks like overwhelming majorities on both ends of the political spectrum disagree with you.
Name even one Israeli company that is subject to BDS that isn't connected to the settlements or the occupation...
You're claiming that BDS limits its activities to companies (and only companies that are in the settlements)?

(6,171 posts)the occupation.
But BDS is targeting other things connected to the illegal settlements and the occupation too, like universities and officials. I've never argued that BDS is limited to targeting companies, however I've argued that BDS only targets the illegal settlements and the occupation, there's a modal difference there.
I obviously win this argument, but I don't know if it's due to a lack of reading comprehension on your part, or that you were unable to show an example of BDS that wasn't connected to the illegal settlements or the occupation.

(6,171 posts)I Googled Matisyahu one more time just to make sure that I wasn't posting total rubbish, and lo and behold - there were some new comments that he'd made after I Googled him last time which point towards him not being a racist:

These are hardly the words of a racist, so I was wrong - Matisyahu is not a racist.
This is slightly embarrasing...
