Jewish settlers caught and beaten after trespassing in Palestinian village

Incident follows the uprooting by Civil Administration officials of settler olive trees planted on Arab land.
By Chaim Levinson | Jan. 7, 2014 | 6:06 PM

A group of some 10 settlers from the outpost of Esh Kodesh, in the Nablus area, were apprehended and beaten by Palestinian villagers on Tuesday after trespassing on their land. The settlers were later handed over to the Israel Defense Forces.

The incident began on Tuesday morning, when Civil Administration officials arrived at the outpost to uproot olive trees that had been planted on private Palestinian land. Based on the experience of previous such incidents, residents of the surrounding Palestinian villagers immediately organized themselves into security details.

In the early afternoon, the Esh Kodesh settlers, some of whom were activists known to the police, arrived at the village of Kfar Kusra. The infiltrators, who were masked and wore gloves, were apprehended by the security detail of about 30 villagers, who surrounded them, took them to an abandoned building and began to beat them.

The incident lasted for about an hour. The settlers, who did not have telephones with them, could not request help. Eventually, the Kfar Kusra villagers contacted the Israel Defense Forces and requested that a unit be sent to remove the settlers.

When American pioneers intentionally settled on Indian lands, they were amazed that the Indians saw them as invaders and treated them as such. Of course, American propaganda called Indian attacks on whites, massacres.

There are many incidents in both American history and current Israeli history where the invasive dominant group treated the indigenous populations like pests, which had to be exterminated to make way for Progress. American propaganda called the slaughter of unarmed Indians heroic battles.

Neither side is nearly that black and white. And there's certainly nothing remotely similar in Israeli history like you describe.

1) The settlers should have been handed over to the IDF unharmed.

2) I'm surprised that the illegal settlers didn't get the usual IDF body guard while attempting to destroy Palestinian property.

Extremists damage cars, spray 'death to Arabs' in Jaffa

JAFFA (Ma'an) -- Locals awoke on Tuesday to find the tires of six vehicles damaged and racist graffiti sprayed on Bat Yam street in Jaffa, an historically Palestinian city in central Israel.

The graffiti, sprayed on a building near the site of the damaged vehicles, read "Death to Arabs," "No to Coexistence," and "Arabs = Murderers."

Spokesman for the Israeli Police Luba Samari said that the attacks occurred early on Tuesday morning.

Locals told a Ma'an reporter that a star of David was also spray-painted on the walls of a house in the area, indicating the involvement of Jewish right wing extremists.
