Israel to build Jewish tourist center on private Palestinian land

Wadi Hilweh Information Center said in a statement that the new center would be built east of the Silwan neighborhood and south of the Al-Aqsa mosque, without specifying when.

The building and the land surrounding it will feature a "museum of Jewish history" and a "Jewish national park," the statement said.

The government-led project is sponsored by the Ir David Foundation, an organization that promotes a Jewish connection to parts of the Silwan neighborhood, including the "City of David" archaeological site.

According to the Information Center, the tourist center will be built on 1,200 square meters of Palestinian land in the al-Ain area.

Municipality crews have already issued notices to seven families in the al-Ain area, informing them that the project will be implemented on their lands, the statement said.

A harp of King David at the entrance to the City of David in Jerusalem

Ir David Foundation, commonly known as Elad [El'ad] (Hebrew: אלע"ד‎, an acronym for "אל עיר דוד", meaning "to the City of David&quot is a Jerusalem-based,[1] Israeli association which aims to strengthen the Jewish connection to Jerusalem and renew the Jewish community in the City of David, which is part of the village of Silwan.[2] The foundation works to achieve its goals by tourism, education, archaeological excavations and obtaining homes in the area to establish a Jewish presence.[3] Its excavation practices have been criticized by one of the most productive archeological researchers in Jerusalem as violating normal scientific procedures.[4] Elad is accused of Judaization of East Jerusalem through eviction of Palestinians, changing the character of the city and promoting its own historic view, by legal and illegal means.[5][6]

Take Palestinian land and property?
Pearl clutchers: We'll just say that the land is disputed. Is sounds so much nicer than stolen.

Destroy Palestinian crops, groves and houses?
Pearl clutchers: We'll remain silent then post a feel good article about Miss Israel.

Shoot innocent Palestinians? Kill innocent Palestinians?
Pearl clutchers: They might throw a rock at our tank.

500 illegal settlers squatting on Palestinian lands?
Pearl clutchers: Well...um...I disagree with the settlements, but our ancestors lived in the area two thousand years ago so that trumps land ownership today.

Talk about the Nakba?
Pearl clutchers: The Palestinians just got up and left their houses and villages one day so we decided to keep them out of the goodness of our own hearts.

Propose Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions until the above, and more, change.
Pearl clutchers: Anti-semites! Anti-Semites! You people are the most vile creations on the planet! David Duke! David Duke!

When Israel has it's eye on a disputed piece of land it seems that, almost magically, a few ancient coins and pottery shards turn up thereby shoring up their claim to the land.

When it comes to cemeteries they claim that the Palestinians set up headstones in the middle of the night and that there are no graves so it's okay to build on the land.

I've spoken with someone who used to reside in the Old City, one of the things he told when speaking of his former home was that you could barely plant a flower in the Old City without digging up some artifact from some epoch or IOW any time you dug a hole there from any purpose it was an archeological dig of some sort
