Netanyahu Is Annoyed? That’s Great!

It seems that the word “boycott” is the most annoying word as far as the extremist Israeli politicians are concerned.

John Kerry, the US Secretary of State, seems to have triggered an angry backlash recently from the zealot Israeli leaders after his warning that Israel would face an economic boycott if it failed to reach a peace accord with the Palestinians. The controversial Israeli cabinet immediately snapped back and accused Kerry of effectively endorsing “anti-sematic” efforts to impose sanctions on Israel by spreading such warnings. Kerry came back to re-emphasize the gravity of the matter by saying, “the risks are very high for Israel and people are talking about the boycott. That will intensify in the case of failure.”

Kerry’s comments were made against a backdrop of growing EU regulations barring dealings with Israeli business based in the West Bank settlements. This comes in addition to a growing campaign by leading universities around the world to boycott Israel academically, as well on the movement by leading Protestant churches in the US to do the same.

May be it is not a snowball yet, but surely there is “something” developing here.

What is pathetically sad, silly and almost disgusting was the response from several members of the extremist Israeli government. Yuval Steinitz, the intelligence and strategic affairs minister and a very close ally of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said that America’s top diplomat was like holding a gun to Israel’s head, adding that the things that Kerry said were hurtful as they were very unfair and they were intolerable. He did not stop there; he went on to add that Israel cannot be expected to negotiate with a gun held to its head. The zealot anti-Kerry campaign kept escalating when Naftali Bennett, the economy and commerce minister, who is also with the extremist far right Jewish home party (a fascist political group), said, “we expect our friends in the world to stand by our side against the attempt to impose an anti-Semitic boycott on Israel.”

An annoyed belligerent asshole is a really unpleasant thing... but that's what I think about him just out of principle.
