‘What is your religion?’ question surprises two American visitors to the occupation

http://mondoweiss.net/2014/11/surprises-visitors-occupation

Here’s a video I shot inside the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron on November 8. My traveling party had just run into another group of Americans and we started gabbing– ten students who were doing a year in Amman, Jordan, and had come over to Palestine to see the sights.

Then these two women, both age 20, told us about being asked what their religion is by Israeli authorities– first at the border at Allenby Bridge, and then in Hebron, at the entrance to Shuhada Street. They’d never been asked that question by an authority before.

The women are both Muslims, and when they said they were Muslim, they were not allowed to walk down Shuhada Street. Even though they had American passports. Shuhada Street is infamous because it’s an apartheid road. Jews can use it, but Palestinians can’t.

You can see these two women’s reactions to the policy for yourself; I believe they were offended. Frankly I was too upset to ask them.

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are buried there. The founding fathers of Judaism.

Weird that they ended up buried in a mosque.

The Temple Mount, Cave of the Patriarchs.....now Mosques.

The apparent reasoning is that since the once oppressed are now Nazi oppressors themselves, the entire chosen people should be denied access to their holy sites.

Progressive politics in action. Gotta love it.

Instead of trolling for sympathy by playing the victim perhaps the temple could be built at another location.

This constant attempt to delegitimize the Palestinians and Muslims in order to gain access to (aka take over) Al Asqa is what is really disgusting.

It's batshit crazy incitement claiming worldwide Jewry wants to take over the Mount or cave.

It's utterly revolting an entire people is being told to get over it or find another holy place.

The problem anti-Zionists have is that they don't believe Jews are racially pure enough to merit access to their holy sites. It's their problem and they should get over it.

Nobody has mentioned "worldwide Jewry" my poor shira, so why are you attempting to accuse others of something that they have not done?

Please refrain from the shizzle stirring.

Perhaps it is more batshit crazy, or completely dubious, to insinuate that others are accusing "worldwide Jewry" of pushing their way on to Al Asqa mount, when it is Israelis that wish to do that.

So yes, it is batshit crazy incitement claiming worldwide Jewry wants to take over the Mount or cave, as you have added into the discussion, so stop with that incitement.

To Muslims Al Aqsa mount .

To you something different.

Most people and most journalists in Western World and Israel refer to it as the Temple Mount.

You have an uphill battle in your new "mission" and "quest" to change this.

Good luck on that ... It must be soooo frustrating I would imagine ...LOL

Google Temple Mount , it's what almost everybody in the world calls that area.

But good luck with your quest , it will be an uphill climb , but it seems like a very worthwhile and important endeavor for you to spend your time and devote your life to convincing the worlds press and almost everyone else to change the nomenclature.

The enclosure is known to Muslims as the Ibrahimi Mosque, as Abraham is a revered prophet of Islam who, according to the Qur'an, built the Kaaba in Mecca with his son Ishmael. After the conquest of the city by Umar, this holy place was "simply taken over from the Jewish tradition" by the new rulers; the Herodian enclosure was converted into a mosque and placed under the control of a waqf. The waqf continues to maintain most of the site, though the Israeli military controls access to the site.

Terror supporting Jew haters masquerading as progressive anti-racists. Like David Duke who views himself as an actual human rights activist. Duke said so in an interview by none other than Mondoweiss in a puff-piece that whitewashed Duke's gutter racism and hatred.

Amazing how Mondoweiss is allowed on a liberal board. Daily Kos and Common Dreams banned Mondoweiss' racist incitement long ago.

seeing as how you claim Weiss is himself banned from Common Dreams

Jason Beck (not his real name) BTW was a ProIsrael troll who created wildly antisemitic sock puppets that he could then as a Liberal Zionist correct

Investigative journalist Lance Tapley leaves few stones unturned in his report “The Double Identity of an ‘Anti-Semitic’ Commenter” except the identity of the culprit. “Let’s call the student Jason Beck”, Tapley says, protecting the perpetrator.

Beck, a Harvard graduate now a grad student at a midwestern university, created literally dozens of online personas to support his true objective: poisoning online discourse critical of Israel. So if evidence of anti-Semitism wasn’t there, he’d create it himself.

His posting on Common Dreams illustrates the susceptibility of website comment threads to massive manipulation.
