Dear Dog I hate fiddling with hardware. I lost the main drive in my computer and husbear's motherboard is going sour. I had to make a strafing run through CompuUSA for parts and built myself a jimdandy new box. New motherboard with an 8-core 64b AMD beast of a processor, 16G of memory and acres of disk. Everything is IN the case and the case is actually closed.
Hell has officially frozen over.
Next to tackle husbear's machine. He's getting my old motherboard and CPU (4-core 64b AMD with 8G of memory). That ought to hold him a while.
In the meantime I've moved to CentOS. Love it. It just works.
The new job is demanding, but pays well. It's a good 10ish miles closer and that's something. There's 30 minutes of my life back a day. My commute is only 53 miles each way instead of 63. I'm back in the web-world again, slinging PHP code, writing apps that will eventually interface with Facebook. It's a job and a good one.
Miss y'all. I'll settle back into a routine around December when we launch a big project and I'll have something like a normal schedule again.
