‘Mentally sick’ gays blast Makandiwa (Zimbabwe)

ZIMBABWE’S beleaguered gay community has hit back at United Family International Church (UFIC) leader, Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa who in a recent church sermon described them as mentally sick.

Makandiwa said homosexuals are mentally deranged people whom God has "surrendered to their malfunctioning minds".

“God never thought anyone could do what they are doing,” Makandiwa was quoted as saying in State media this past Sunday.

“Men trying to be women, women trying to be men, trying to run away from the natural way of things, that’s a result of a reprobate mind.”

He continued: “What amazes me is that some of these people are billionaires. Some of these people with reprobate minds are in political positions.

1. If they supposedly have a mental illness, then why such harsh treatment?

I doubt many governments would take these extreme measures against, say, schizophrenics.

2. Actually, these type of governments do take extreme measures against the mentally ill.

Think Nazi Germany. Soviet Russia. There are many other examples. While today it might not seem to be as rampant, there are governments where the mentally ill do not get the help they need. The US doesn't have a great record when it comes to mental illness.

3. All very true. I just find it really contradictory when people claim gays are mentally ill

and then in the same breath claim to despise them for their repugnant life choices. Wouldn't "mental illness" imply that they can't help it and therefore shouldn't be hated for what they can't help?

4. Your trying to apply logic to an illogical system.

Of course, here in the US and a few other places, homosexuality is a "mental illness", thus the "good" people trying to "cure" us.
