US: Oregon students wear ‘Gay Is Not OK’ t-shirts to school

Four Oregon students protested the Day of Silence, which raises awareness of anti-gay bullying, by wearing t-shirts that claim ‘Gay is not OK’.
The students, from Oregon City High School, wore t-shirts on Friday which bore the phrases “Gay is not OK”, and “Gay day is not OK”.

that they hide behind their "religious" beliefs and spout their ignorance, intolerance and hate.

Jesus never preached that, so just drop the pretense. They are stupid and hateful because they want to be.

Thanks King_David for the thread.

read words in the Bible but never understand them in context.

The story of Sodom and Gommorah was not about homosexuality. The story was all about inhospitality. In a largely nomadic culture, when people travelled, it was at great peril. They relied on individuals and towns or cities to provide for them in terms of lodging, food, care for their animals, etc.

Jesus never talked about, and I would argue the Bible itself never addresses, same-gender attraction individuals in loving relationships.

The statements that such is an abomination are without understanding what was an abomination. "Lying with a man as with a woman is an abomination". First of all the act of sexual domination by a male over a female at the time was paramount. We know that at the time warring parties often raped male prisoners in an act of domination.

Second they had no contextual understanding of persons who are same-gender oriented. So for them this would be an act where a heterosexual man was engaging in sexual domination with another heterosexual man.

Thirdly they don't seem to care about all of the other abominations such as eating shellfish, clothes if multiple fabrics, shaving your beard, sleeping with a women during her period, etc. They conveniently don't refer to those because they love them some lobster, polyester, shaving and getting it on with their women anytime they want.

Jesus certainly had no problem healing and blessing them.
