Thanks, Obama!
So here's one more thing Obama has done...
As some of you may know, my neighbors are a lesbian couple. Long-term relationship, been next to my parents for about a dozen years now, have tons of loving family in the area, always friendly and helpful. They watched my kid a few times, we ran an extension cord over to their house during the 71-hour blackout from Hurricane Irene, they let me park in their driveway during blizzards, we help them clear off the snow, they gave me a $100 gift card when I graduated from college 2 weeks ago... pretty good neighbors.
So I noticed they've had a dumpster in their driveway for the last week, and today while doing yardwork I had a chance to ask them about it. Well, it seems that they were removing a dozen years of clutter (theirs and other people's abandoned stuff) to make room for... Central Air Conditioning! <ruffles and flourishes>
At this point I asked them if they were looking for a renter with a kid 
My desire for central air is not why I'm writing this, though.
I'm writing this because... they can afford the installation of central air because of Obama's recent victories for the gay community.
They got married (quietly) after Connecticut legalized marriage equality. And when this year the Obama Administration said that the Federal Government must recognize same-sex marriages for federal tax and benefit purposes...
...my neighbors were able to amend their federal taxes for the last THREE YEARS and got a five-figure income tax refund!
So.... thanks Obama!
