You are just fine. It’s the haters who have the ugly souls. They bring shame on themsetand all who support them.

And there is nothing wrong with you, them, or us. Nothing. There is, however, something very wrong with those who choose hatred over love, war over peace, and intolerance over acceptance.

life, liberty, (and, in the declaration of independence, the pursuit of happiness) surely include being who you are, expressing who you are, and loving who you love.

beyond that, the entire concept of "freedom" is nothing but a cruel joke if you're someone can't life their life as the gender they feel they are or if adults can't have relationships with other consenting adults of their own choosing.

beyond that, why does anyone even care? how is anyone's sex life the government's business? where is the public interest in regulating that?

but, but, but... the bible. yeah. ok, the old testament alone has 613 commandments. many of them are perfectly legal, including, say, adultery, which is one of the big 10. where's the mad mob clamoring to make adultery illegal? or cheeseburgers? or bacon? or clothing made of more than one type of thread?

why is it that the religious lgbtqia-haters seem so single-minded about sex/gender issues above all others? oh, and the sin thing. these people believe we're all sinners and their religion is all about forgiveness but this is the one sin they can't forgive or even allow to be a personal conversation between people their god?

these same people will go into prisons and forgive murderers who have committed sins and crimes, but they can't even forgive the non-sin non-crime of being lgbtqia.

there's no logic to it. it's just hateful authoritarians who perceive a personal advantage to damaging the lives of a minority they feel belongs below them in the hierarchical society they prefer.

What is wrong is the hate and bigotry that people ALLOW to manifest within themselves, because of their ignorance. I would also add that hate and bigotry is a personal choice.

Religions tend to juxtapose inner group against "those other" . Politicians step right up to create edicts against "those other". Seemed for a while us LGBTQ became acceptable, colorful, interesting, nervously "welcomed in". RW hate mongers had chosen their target in the post 9/11 chaos: Islam. Then many met, befriended, discovered "those other" were largely more like inner group than the radical narrative supported. Furthermore discovered the old bugaboo in common: "deviant" sexual outlaws.
Legalized. Uncloseted. "Tolerated... *cough*".
Marginalized.
Even right here on DU, expressions of "not exposing the children" holds out the false hope that hiding it from the kids will prevent them from becoming one of "those other", apparently in denial of the marginalization that produces?
PTSD nightmares that keep emerging as daily realities, with potentially life threatening outcomes. While methinks "Don't say gay" laws will ultimately backfire, it still labels us as "those other".

Instead of just accepting that people are different, like a decent person.

Some people even hate when another person has different motivations in life. They often assume that others think just like they do, getting angry if the other person says "I don't care about that". The other person MUST be lying, in their simplistic minds.

Narcissists who like to dominate other people prefer the company of other narcissists too, despite how other dominators are logically more competition for them. Since they understand the thinking of other narcissists, though, that makes other narcissists preferable company for them regardless.

Something is wrong with people who judge or fear you.

It isn't just people who don't understand who judge though. Sometimes the worst people are the ones who understand all too well and can't live with themselves because they are afraid to be judged.

Either way, it is NOT you. It's them. And I am so sorry that you have to ask the question.

For the record, Jesus didn't condemn homosexuality. My church doesn't either. Some people just have to hate other people. I guess it makes them feel superior or something.

I am truly sorry that you have to face discrimination.
