...is that so many overt bigots believe gay is catching. If you're straight, presumably you know that isn't true because you know theres no way people just being gay and living their lives is going to change your sexuality. There are over 300 million people in this country, including many millions who don't support LGBT rights and causes. It's odd to me that some trumpet a handful of closet cases as if that's evidence of anything. Sure it's news when they are outed, I guess. Hypocrisy makes a good story. But Ted Haggard's story really doesn't tell about much except for what Ted Haggard was doing.

Taking a couple such cases and saying 'see, the biggest bigots are gay' is the kind of logic that is not accepted when the issues are race, class, or religion and not sexuality.

We don't take a tatted-up gang member and hold him up as the example of Chicano culture. We don't hold up a poor drug addict as an example of underclass. And we don't hold up a suicide bomber as an example of a Muslim. Why people hold up Ted Haggard as a the poster child for the anti-gay religious right is beyond me.

I agree with the OP here. Saying 'Rush must be gay' is the flawed logic I just talked about getting out of control.
