before it was shut down by an undercover policewoman posing as a patient. It opened again and was shut down again, and Sanger was arrested for maintaining a public nuisance. She opened the clinic a third time, on Nov. 16, but authorities forced the landlord to evict her, and all three women were arrested. When Sanger appeared before the judge, he waved a cervical cap from the bench and argued that no woman should have “the right to copulate with a feeling of security that there will be no resulting conception.” She went to jail for 30 days."

Back in the day, and I'm talking about when W was Prez, I used to post on political forums, one in particular, that were not regulated as to party membership or beliefs. And I have to say at that point in time one could have interesting conversations with a select few from the other side of the aisle.

I had what I labeled the "Top 5" beliefs of Cons posting on forums, one of which was their misinformation regarding Sanger. She was pro-abortion. A racist. A secret member of the KKK. All of which were either outright lies or constructed from cherry-picking her writings. The more I read about her, the more I found her to be an incredible person. Not only what she accomplished considering she was a woman in the early years of the 20th century, but the laws and attitudes in place at the time.

I realize that in 2020, looking back, she was not a saint. But IMO she did SO much more good than bad that I was rather disgusted with the way PP handled her history. I believe we need to judge a person by their life's work and at least consider the times in which those accomplishments were achieved.

has handled Margaret Sanger's history and legacy. She was IMHO one of the greatest humanitarians of the 20th century.
