I find myself generally alone in objecting to sexist language and "humor" in what is supposed to be a progressive board.

What, in your opinion, is the problem?..Do people feel intimidated or, afraid?

The more reluctant people are to speak up, the more emboldened the sexists here get. Just wondering what can be done

use/say about a man?" Usually will get support when you point that out. Another one is to comment, "I make it a point not to comment on people's looks." Particularly when it is an evil woman whose policies I hate that is being attacked for how she looks. I really try not do that for either sex but all know the women get the most ridicule..

. . .and landed here. The video of two little girls internalizing a message that reads against the Master Narrative was particularly poignant. We live in a world that reinforces patriarchal, sexist, misogynist conditioning. The General Discussion on DU regarding Cuomo was depressing and annoying, but I didn't want to get sucked into a frustrating debate over investigations, or whether some women lie, or whether or not he should resign. Anyway, thanks for posting the video. I feel better now, and I'm glad I discovered this group.
