Related: About this forumI had my arthritis injections yesterday!
My rheumatologist gave me two shots, on each side of my lower spine. I had warned the doc that I am a sniveling coward when it comes to shots and this just scared me to death. His medical assistant came in to the room and I deadpanned "Is she bringing in the sock you are going to put in my mouth to keep me from screaming and scaring all your patients in the waiting room?" He seemed amused by my gallows humor!
The first one was an owee but the second was surprisingly OK. He said that was because i used up all my tension on the first one. Mebbe so...
He said I'd be sore about 3 hours later and to use ice. He also said to take my muscle relaxer, which had a nice effect and I drifted off to sleep early. I didn't get the soreness until about 3 am...fixing ice bags in the middle of the night is not my thing, so I took a pain pill instead. I was surprisingly rested this morning, tho still a bit sore.
He said I should not be experiencing grogginess from Melloxicam. He said it probably was as a result of sleep deprivation at night. He is probably right...I am not an MD and shouldn't make those judgments.
I am continuing my stretching/strengthening exercises...doc says my effort is "commendable."
So happy to have this done...I'm doing much better!
Now the soreness has worn off and I'm good.

(4,276 posts)I'm hoping I can get some relief from the residual pain left over from Shingles last month. Ambien at night helps but by midafternoon, it's pretty bad. *sigh* Maybe have to try Lyrica.

(63,912 posts)however, I have a recurring form of shingles in one particular spot on my side...it generally gets a little sore and red and occasionally the little bumps come and then heal over...so I am hoping that "immunizes" me from a big attack.
You have my deepest sympathy. Shingles is a terrible thing to get...
