new study has found microscopic bacteria living in a person's gut could govern dietary choices and eating behaviour.
The team of scientists at University College San Francisco, Arizone State University and the University of New Mexico, found gut bacteria could be responsible for certain cravings.

Doctor Carlo Maley, a corresponding author on the study, said: 'Bacteria within the gut are manipulative.
'There is a diversity of interests represented in the microbiome, some aligned with our own dietary goals, and others not.'

(52,221 posts)if these manipulative bacteria are symbiotic, that is, helping us in some way, such as to aid in the digestive process or remove toxins, then shifting our diet to support them could be a good thing.
of course, if these bacteria are largely parasitic, then of course shifting our diet to support them would be bad, or at least a waste.
