No, Fully Vaccinated People Shouldn't Go Get An Extra Vaccine Dose

MSN/WUSA-9 TV, 'Verify,' CBS News, July 29, 2021.

It's been more than 8 months since the first doses of the life-saving COVID-19 vaccines were first administered, and health officials have repeatedly reassured that the vaccines remain effective, and that they have not seen a drop-off in protection.

But that hasn't stopped the steady flow of questions coming to the Verify team, especially as the more transmissible Delta variant spreads across the country. "My husband I got the Johnson & Johnson shot; can we go and get the Pfizer shot due to a stronger virus that's coming out?" one viewer wrote in an email. "We want to make sure we are safe."

Another viewer wrote: "I received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine in January. Can I get a Moderna dose now as an extra precaution, especially against Delta variant?" Let's Verify. THE QUESTION: If I'm already fully vaccinated, should I take an additional "booster" dose from another brand, in order to get extra protection?

THE ANSWER: No.

and get in line. Until then, I'll continue to mask up when in public and avoid crowds.

Truth be told, I haven't changed my Covid routine much since last year. My social life is limited to visits with family and friends who are also fully vaxxed.

My son is also in the first Pfzier trial and got his first shots in August. My son got a shot on Monday and he thinks that he is the vaccine part of the trial and not the placebo part because he is still running a fever and his arm still hurts.
