Well, we did it. Watched all four seasons of The Killing. Pretty incredible series!
It certainly won't be for everyone - it is very dark and takes its time. It is in a way the opposite of most TV crime shows that wrap things up quickly. The main characters have pretty serious personal demons. There are red herrings all over the place.
But it is compelling, really gets to you, is addictive - and it rains an awful lot (it does take place in Seattle!)
And, as in all series that we love, now we are sad that it is over! (just like Six Feet Under, Sopranos, Twin Peaks and Breaking Bad)

(1,188 posts)I nearly moved to Seattle. I visited the city several times. But after watching "The Killing" I think the weather would have depressed me to the point of not liking it as much as I initially thought I would. Beautiful part of the country though.
I just finished the BBC production of "The Hour." Another very good show.

(1,999 posts)I guess I started watching it previously and gave up on it for some reason. I think it could have been to binge and catch up on The Good Wife when I began watching that show.
Started over with the Killing this past long weekend and am hooked. I'm not sure whether it is accurate to say I'm enjoying it, but it is very good, and you're right--it is addictive.

(16,334 posts)we've seen all but this last season. I am glad you think it's worth it! I also hate when these kind of shows end.

(3,818 posts)Season 4 picks up 1 hour after the ending of season 3. (Is it even that long??)
I'm glad they gave us closure with the 6 episode ending. It is way much more than we get from a lot of shows that just disappear.
One heck of a show.

(7,321 posts)the first three were dark enough, can't remember what I read about the story line on the 4th but I made a mental note to take every measure to avoid it.
Having said that, there was a lot I liked about the series. I thought the acting and cast were superb. Though I thought the story line had a lot going for it, could have/should have been condensed, reducing the endless and tedious twists to the primary plot line which got on my nerves quite a bit.
