DinP is now on their third lead actor. It has been good with each of the three. Apparently filming in Guadeloupe is exhausting, always hot and humid, and isolating. Most of the cast are Europeans and it is difficult for their families to travel with them, particularly if there are children in school. The guest casts for each episode are better able to treat it as a working vacation.

They were fun. Once the native young lady left AND the 2nd goofy chief inspector (Humphrey was it?), I was like ... meh. I like Dwayne, but, he's not enough to carry the show.

Foyle's War is one of the best ever. Father Brown is pretty good. Dr Blake is actually Aussie, but seems almost British.

I assume you already know Inspector Morse, Lewis, and Endeavour. Some older series include Cracker, Touch of Frost, and Lovejoy.

I endorse those already named.

You can't beat that one. Also River starring Stellan Skarsgard and Nicola Walker, kind of quirky. Shetland and Hinterland are both good too. Happy Valley.

If you have Acorn tv Keeping Faith is good.

How about Australian? I adore the Dr. Blake series. There's another one, A Place Called Home or To Call Home. The first few seasons are fabulous, then it gets a bit soap opera-ish. I love good costumes and atmosphere and Miss Phisher murder mysteries are good. The main character is a character!

I love that show! It's about a vicar who helps a detective solve crimes back in the 50's in rural England. He likes his scotch and Sidney Bichet and there are a number of quirky characters around him. Also, he's quite gorgeous (James Norton) in an earthy, ginger way.

It's really a great show! I highly recommend it!

Playing direct opposite character. If you just saw him in that role, you really would have a hard time picturing him in a vehicle like Grantchester, much less as the vicar

Happy Valley is terrific. Not lighthearted.
