When They See Us

About the 5 boys convicted of raping a jogger in Central Park in 1989. I have watched a couple of episodes. It is so amazingly well done. It was created, cowritten and directed by Ava DuVernay. I can't believe a writer could also be such a good director on a story that seems impossible to get distance enough from to write objectively about. The young actors were incredibly good, not a false note at all. Felicity Huffman is excellent as the detective who concocts the whole story of the boys raping the jogger and the prosecutor was good too. Trump is featured as taking out an ad in a newspaper to get the death penalty for the boys.

I just know Huffman was the one who directed the detectives to get the confessions, and then she was the one who videotaped herself getting the confessions from the boys that they showed in court. The prosecutor in court was Elizabeth Lederer played by Vera Farmiga.

It's horrifying. I understand the detective has lost a book contract now that her lethal racism is out for everyone to see.

Or DA. Whichever she is. She ought to be in prison.
