Internal Prolapsed Hemorrhoid(s) - I didn't know there was such thing.

A loved one had surgery on Memorial Day after a visit to the ER & had 2 prolapsed hemorrhoids removed. The doctor said recovery is 4 - 6 weeks.

Anyone have experience w/ this.

I was in hospital for four days. Most uncomfortable part was removing what felt like 100 yards of packing after those four days.

The hemorrhoid itself was a pain in the ass (sorry; the jokes write themselves) but the surgery was 100% successful, haven't had a problem in decades since then.

The one hiccup is my body didn't clear the anesthesia quickly enough, 24 hours after surgery I still couldn't pee, I was still. Completely numb down there, so I had to go to the e.r. for a Foley catheter and pee into a bag for a day or two. That experience was far more embarrassing than it was painful, as noted, I was completely numb down there.

Anyway, best of luck to your friend.
