heading out to see my mom in a couple days

i love my mom but seeing her is always a bit stressful. our relationship didn't get to a good point until she moved halfway across the country and that makes me feel guilty. she's extremely unhappy where she is and that makes me feel even more guilty. she's not in good health and the guilt just keeps piling on.

i can do nothing for her but listen and enjoy our time together. i'm excited to see her, i just have to not let the guilt get to me.

the husband is coming, so that will help.

Still won't be easy. Try to ignore the bad and focus on the good.

It wasn't always that way. I'd be a sweaty stinky mess when I hung up the phone after I talked to my mom.

Six pack of beer follow-up.

My mom is still as crazy as I am, but not so insane as my grandma who was removed from the home she owned by police and paramedics. My grandma was biting, kicking, throwing things, hitting, cussing. Fortunately she didn't remember her guns, so maybe she wasn't that crazy when they took her away.

Hope your mom conversations improve too...

to want to go the same way?
i apologize if that hurts you, and in no way do i want to minimize how awful it must have been.
i just really want to burn out, and not rust away.

Like you said you are excited to see her, concentrate on that and the good times. Don't let the guilt get to you too much, some is natural and understandable. If it get's to be too much take a break from her, go out and get a bite to eat, treat yourself to something. And like you said your husband being there will help. Hugs.

really love their kids unconditionally in their hearts. it's just getting it from there to their kids hearts where it turns to acid dripping mold encrusted stinking stinging unbearable bullshit.
trust me on this.
