What's for Dinner, Sat., Aug. 21, 2021

Fresh tomato galette. Found the recipe in a library book I borrowed called America's Test Kitchen Complete Summer Cookbook.

I'm using crust the RG has stored in the freezer as a shortcut, but look at the beautiful tomatoes I grew to use:

Just picked these yesterday.

Here's the image from the Taste of Home web site:

Orange tea and a biscuit with apricot spread on it for dessert.

The grocery store had some really tasty-looking KC strips on sale, so I'm about to put one on the grill.

Very small new potatoes steamed, then smashed a little and sauteed in olive oil with a little garlic, seasoned with salt pepper & rosemary.

I just found a small deli in the neighborhood that makes NY-style pastrami (and corned beef). Going to treat myself tonight. And they also make half-sour pickles. I'll have to watch a NYC movie on the teevee tonight.

I almost had some cherry tomatoes last week, but the raccoons got them first. The other plants have fruits, but they're small and still green. Maybe one of these weeks...

all those tomatoes came from only one raised bed!

I'm so sorry the raccoons got your tomatoes. I've been spraying mine for deer and I think raccoons hate the deer spray, too.
