Tortilla chips with pineapple salsa.
Burrito with cheese.
Side of refried beans with cheese.
Dessert: half of a vanilla cream roll my friend dropped off. I am putting strawberries and whipped cream on top, saving the other half for tomorrow.
Mini can of coke I found in the cabinet, then a glass of iced Passion (hibiscus) tea.

Last week, we found a new butcher shop in NE Pennsylvania. They sell beef, lamb, pork and chicken, of course but they also sell game meats including venison, elk, buffalo, ostrich and many others. They also sell seafood including many different lobster tails, fresh clams and oysters as well as many fresh fishes. It was all priced very reasonably. We had a shopping field day and I picked out a venison tenderloin that I'm looking forward to grilling when the weather gets warmer.
For tonight, we're going to have a pair of steamed lobster tails with lemon and melted butter. As accompaniments, we're baking a couple of Idaho potatoes to be served with butter and a dab of sour cream with chives sprinkled on top. Lastly, we'll finish our fresh spinach with a classic spinach salad with mushrooms, crumbled bacon, cherry tomato halves with a vinaigrette dressing.
A game of Scrabble and brandy for dessert.

(25,908 posts)I'd bought a full bone-in turkey breast back around Christmas, and just now got around to thawing and baking it. I FINALLY bought a meat thermometer and used it to check the temperature. I suspect I will really like using it.
The turkey breast cost a bit under $14.00. Tomorrow I will have more turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and peas. Then on Thursday and Friday I'll make sandwiches, which should pretty much use up one half of the breast. The other half I'll freeze tomorrow (feeling too lazy to do it right now) and it will eventually become a couple more sandwiches and turkey soup. So I'll get about 10 meals from that one purchase. That means the turkey cost of each meal will be under $1.30, not bad.
Oh, I do live alone, which helps.
