(35,662 posts)I knocked myself out and we haven't dined yet--my spouse is not yet home from the airport, having flown in from Denver. Has been in airports since 6 a.m. but with all the thunderstorms, lots of delays and lost luggage. But he's at the wine store now!
I wanted to use those heirloom tomatoes I picked from my garden for my salad. When it came time to chop them for the salad, I nearly burst into tears. They were so ugly! Now it is not as if I haven't grown heirlooms before: I have grown them for years.
Nevertheless, I chopped them up, along with a Campari tomato from the store. Then I tasted mine and the Campari. WOW~! The taste on mine was unbelievable!! I was so happy.
Well, time to dine! He just drove up!

(50,130 posts)In fact, there's a tomato grown in Florida that isn't allowed to be sold out of state simply because it is ugly! Delicious, but ugly.

(51,907 posts)Homemade tortillas, fried in olive oil and drained. I make up refried beans in large batches, frying with olive oil and freezing them in portions suitable for a dinner for two--in this case, two dinners for two. Chopped onion and salsa in the burger, shredded romaine lettuce, sliced cherry tomatoes, salsa, non-fat yogurt, and shredded cheddar cheese.

(12,253 posts)With toasted French bread. Carpal tunnel acting up and this is just so easy to put together. I didn't decide to cook until 5:45 and had dinner ready by 6:10PM. Best pantry soup ever! (providing you have fresh ginger, garlic, and cilantro in the veggie drawer of your refrigerator).
