What's for Dinner - Wednesday Aug 8th

Hey Lucinda! Stepped in to start this.

Cold plate this warm afternoon - Sliced roast beef w/horseradish, potato salad, cottage cheese, tomatoes w/basil, black olives, cold tea w/oranges.

Fixing a left over chicken/corn/mushroom creamed soup for later, when it cools down. Rye toasts on the side. Watermelon cubes to finish.

1. We had lentils with spinach, stuffed grape leaves, a shredded carrot salad and pita bread

2. i need to get by here more often

same as the last time i posted in a 'what's for dinner' thread

turkey kielbasa
saffron rice
broiled zucchini

and watermelon for dessert

3. pasta with lots of fresh basil, tomatoes, italian sausage bits

and some new olive oil from Trader Joes -- a grassy California variety. They had oil made from Greek kalamata olives that was tempting me, but it was $3 more, so I went for the California stuff.

Beautiful, beautiful weather here. Mid 70s. Ahhhhh.

4. Fixed a big bagel and lox brunch for visiting friends, so just some

warmed up leftovers for dinner.

I'm still full.

Thanks for stepping in for Lucinda. She's been sounding better lately and I hope she is ok.

5. Chicken salad sandwich on bauernbrot with Spicy Thai Kettle potato chips.

Washed down with a raspberry-lemon soda I made with my new soda maker.

6. wild-caught salmon

The genius made it with a rub that he invented himself.

The dessert was unusual: peaches, for which he made a syrup. He baked them and they had feta cheese on top. Sounds weird, yes? It was fantastic!!

My daughter cooked today to give me a break, bless her heart.
