Thankie for starting yesterday pinto!
I had to stay out of my computer chair as much as possible.
I'm eating soft foods due to medicine irritation, so nothing exciting to report here.
I have been giving some though of ways to make things like syrups and sorbets with the flavors that I love from Spice Drops. (Cloves, licorice, etc) - I just can't experiment yet!
What's for dinner where you are?

(22,142 posts)and steamed collards . My husband is gone for the day volunteering at an Ultra Marathon and the day is mine! Will wait for his call that he is on his way home before I start cooking.
I baked two loaves of zucchini bread yesterday - ran out of canola oil for the recipe and used walnut oil instead. Wow - that was expensive, but really, really good.
Hope you feel better today

The walnut oil sounds like an interesting addition to the bread too. I used to cook with it, but it's been a while. Tasty stuff!

(10,201 posts)I went for a run and went way too far. Paying for it is all.
We ended up having sushi. It was great.

No good close places around here, and we never make it ourselves.

First course: fettucine with basil cream sauce
Main course: halibut steaks with fresh tomato sauce
Side dish: sage potatoes
Dessert: milk and chocolate chip cookies
It will probably take until 10 p.m. to have all this!

(106,886 posts)How are you cooking yours?
I was planning on just putting it in the oven with the sauce over it (homemade tomato sauce), but I didn't make it that far. I fell asleep after the pasta course!
But I'll have it today--same for the cookies!

(31,170 posts)I love kale, and feta too!
NJCher
(35,667 posts)As you know, they have an extensive salad bar. I looked at the ingredients and tried it out on my own and it's now one of my favorite dishes. Simple, too--just saute the kale in a good olive oil along with the garlic, then add the feta.

(31,170 posts)I even like it raw.
I'm trying kale in a lot of recipes that I usually use spinach in, like sauteed spinach with feta.

(146,218 posts)Gotta get that grill fired up. It's a perfectly beautiful day here.
Enjoy your sorbets! I wish I could keep frozen stuff like that, but alas, I will have to settle for ice in my cocktail.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)Usually just enough for the meal.
Hope your dinner was yummy!

Today I have some nice red wine tarragon vinaigrette for our cuke salad. A bit of finely diced red onion and some sun gold tomatoes will go in, too. Cracked black pepper.

(146,218 posts)mint. The dressed with a simple lemon/olive oil vinaigrette. Came out great, but doesn't keep all that well.

(50,130 posts)I never think to put mint in salad, and I have a bumper crop outside. Thanks for the idea. I have to cut some mint and hang it up to dry. I don't usually bother, but this year I will.

(50,130 posts)...and I love having it and Greek oregano available outside my door. I'll have to try to use it more often.

(50,130 posts).....lots of fresh basil, sungold toms sliced on top, some shredded summer squash mixed in before baking. Made with Dreamfields rotini and local cheddar.
In market news today, I bought 20 pounds of Gravenstein apples, four beautifully ripe white peaches, 10 pounds of pickling cukes, 3 pints blueberries, 4 pints sungold tomatoes, flat-leaf parsley, fresh baby dill....
I drooled over wild-picked huckleberries, but couldn't bring myself to pay the $6 per half-pint.
One thing at a time. Apples. Making applesauce tonight for the freezer.
