What's for Dinner, Sun., Feb. 22, 2026

Cream of Chicken & Leek Soup. Made in the slow cooker. Easy.

Unfortunately, no salad greens, boohoo. And with this storm, it's not likely I'll be getting any, either, at least for a couple days.

I'll top the soup with crispy turkey bacon crumbles and rosemary.

Kombucha: blueberry.

Dessert: maybe a chocolate square.

Don't worry. Soon your garden will be cranking out greens by the bushel.

Glad you're staying in.

Must be a huge storm. It's cold (for here) & going down to 20F tonight with high wind.

Stay warm!

steamed broccoli, baked potatoes. My son makes great microwave Hollandaise sauce, which will be helpful for the reluctant salmon-eaters (son and husband, not me, I grew up eating salmon and love it).

Tamales stuffed with pork. The Archaeologist is making mole sauce from scratch so the kitchen is piled high with ingredients. I see that refried beans and yellow rice will accompany the tamales. Oranges for dessert.

Seemed like a good idea to make a big pot of soup this afternoon. Besides the green split peas, the soup also contains chopped onion, celery, red bell pepper, sliced carrots, parsnips, cabbage, zucchini and minced garlic. Also having roasted baguette slices. Cheers!🥂

~Meat loaf
~Mashed red potatoes
~Butternut squash
~Green salad with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, black olives
~Lemon water
Will dig around looking for something that would pass for dessert

Sorry about your salad greens, NJC. Your soup sounds yummy.
