Not all salads have lettuce, and I found this one in my Giada pasta cookbook: It's called Skewered Greek Salad. Cherry tomatoes, feta cheese cubes, pitted Kalamata olives, and sweet red onion slices. Vinaigrette in a small bowl to dip each piece.
Entree is Creamy Cauliflower Alfredo over pasta. Rigatoni, I think.
Kombucha: unflavored.
Dessert: roasted black plums with agave sweetened Greek yogurt.
I still haven't been out of my house since the storm! The private road has ice spots and I'm waiting until it melts. Won't be long because the temps are nice here--47 right now, at 3:45 p.m.

(751 posts)i have been reading about it being good for gut health because it is fermented. Afraid to try it because I dont know of anyone that drinks it. Yogurt and bananas are OK, but I need more of a variety to choose from.

(1,823 posts)It comes in all kinds of flavours, especially if you make your own.
Look for Synergy or other brand names to try it. The culture is important, and because I dont do dairy, I cant get it via yogurt or kefir, so kombucha to the rescue.

(42,940 posts)and am I ever glad I did. It has the tartness in a drink that I liked with white wine. Now I sail past the wine store whenever I go to the supermarket and think about how nice it is to not have to make another stop. Not to mention the extra $$ in my pocket.
Even unflavored, it's good.
It does take effort and time, however, to make it. I used to buy it and for two years in a row spent $2400 a year buying it. Ridiculous.
Yes, it is far healthier than just about any other drink I can think of, sans green tea, perhaps. Recently a study came out that said it improved A1C readings for people who were pre-diabetic. I was in that range. In the last few years, my doctor has sent me emails after reading my test results that I'm (slowly) moving away from the pre-diabetic range.
But as for taste? Yes! Best drink out there!

(1,871 posts)First I steam-fried in evoo and veggie broth: chopped onion, red bell pepper and minced garlic. I then air-fried sweet potato nuggets and added them to the veggies along with cooked black beans. I seasoned the veggies with chili powder, cumin, oregano, red pepper flakes and parsley. I added the mixture to lavash flat bread, which we like better than burrito shells, and folded the bread into a wrap. Pineapple tomato salsa slathered on top before eating. Cheers!🥂
