(175,749 posts)Today is the triplets 12th (!!!) birthday and I am going there for dinner. Their father is a professional chef, so whatever it is, it'll be good.

(175,749 posts)Hard to believe that they are so old. Teenagers next year. I understand that they are quite excited because of this and Halloween.

(31,170 posts)Sounds fun! Hope they have a wonderful bday!
I still have a little beef left, plus stuff for sandwiches and salad, so it will be something like that..
I just had a banana for breakfast at 3:24 pm. I'm all backwards today.

(175,749 posts)It's going to be a relatively quiet party with only immediate family instead of the extended one.

So we have some ribs and mashed potatoes I can work with.

(14,893 posts)Cooks Illustrated/test kitchen's recipe for "fresh tomato pasta putanesca" and truth be told, my personal recipe is far more flavorful.
But I'll be honest in their survey and hopefully they'll make modifications

(146,218 posts)They have these terrible, inedible lobsters out here in SoCal. The worst part is they have no claws, which is my most favorite part.
On a recent trip to Maine, I was talking to a lobsterman about them. He said "That's no lobster. That's a crawfish" in the most delightful Maine accent you can imagine.
Enjoy!

(11,093 posts)Anyplace except the North Atlantic (e.g.: SoCal or NOLA) you're probably really getting crawfish. Luckily I live about 45 mins from the Maine coastline (I'll try not to rub it in )
Oh yes, I do indeed know how New Englanders feel about their seafood.
I once had a job as a marketing manager for General Mills, who at the time owned the Red Lobster restaurant chain. My first crisis was dealing with bomb threats to the Saugus, Mass. Red Lobster. Someone was incensed at the idea of a "chain" serving "Florida 'lobster'" in New England.
I can only imagine the way he must have tossed out "crawfish."

(35,713 posts)I was so tired tonight after dealing with storm prep all day. I wanted to make something but instead I went out for sushi.
Then I came up with this trick for dessert:
I put four squares of Trader Joe's dark chocolate with coconut and caramel in a bowl. Nuked it on medium until it started to melt. Took some of those thin TJ windmill cookies--I think they're ginger-almond--and dipped them in the melted chocolate.

(9,791 posts)I was busy with storm preparation so I took a container of pulled pork out of the freezer. It's really good on Maier's Italian club rolls with PA Dutch Wos Wit sweet pepper relish.
