(146,218 posts)Any ideas for using some of this?
I was thinking of rather simple oven baked pork chops with a maple/ginger sauce and perhaps pan browning the cauliflower with olives and capers, but I'm just not sure.

Quick egg drop when all else is done
(Wish I knew how to make Chinese buns to dip in the soup. My cousin-in-law's mother made them often. At dinner, lunch with a soup, even breakfast with plum jam.)

(146,218 posts)I have a couple of really good ones in the freezer (thick, bone in).
I was thinking about breading and oven frying to keep them moist, then make a sauce, but am open to suggestions.
Also, you've given me the idea to make a scalloped cauliflower/potato dish to go with.

(175,733 posts)They weren't particularly thick and have a small bone. They were in the oven about one hour at 325. Of course, the chops didn't brown.

(35,663 posts)I noticed that the more I scrolled down the page, the more I was salivating. Good thing I got here relatively early--I'd be drooling by now.
I think I'm going to go with stir-fry rice tonight which I will make myself since spouse flew to SF or LA, can't remember which, to do the Fancy Food Show.
I may do some vegetable roasting for my vegetarian sammiches, too. I was able to pick up a stunning eggplant, some red peppers, and onions. I like to caramelize the onions and put everything on a big whole wheat ciabatta with a slice of mozzarella. And make chipotle sauce for it. That will be for lunch tomorrow.

(14,889 posts)It's simmering as I type. Instead of using a ham hock, I picked up a ham bone from Heavenly Ham. Nice bone and lots of meat for around $4.00. Can't wait until the soup is done. I'm HUNGRY NOW!
Oh and have some French bread rising too! It's going to be a nice Saturday evening!

(14,487 posts)I don't cook fish often because it's one thing I think is better when order it than when I make it, but I saw the cod on sale super cheap, so I decided to go for it.
It turned out really good! After reading several articles lately about cooking with lard, I decided to try that. The nuggets turned out really crispy and not at all greasy feeling.
I cooked an extra filet for the kittehs
