Success! (Well, kinda) Country Fried Steak redux...

I posted a thread back in April, asking for suggestions about making my own country fried steak. Many people answered (Freshwest was really helpful, so big THANKS! ). I really appreciated the help. My first attempt ended in it being burned. This attempt...well..see for yourself...

And with the gravy...

This was a much better go round. The downside was I didn't measure my flour, so my seasoning was off quite a bit. The burnt batch actually had a better tasting outside. My gravy was also a little too thick. I keep forgetting to let it settle before adding more flour. I also used round steak, and beat it myself, which scared the shit out of the dogs, one threw up twice and another cowered in a corner. But, they sure did like the finished product! So did my man (though he did like the coating from the first batch better). So, I learned some good lessons by both attempts. This one was much prettier.

So, thank you to everyone who helped me and gave suggestions!

Up next...fried chicken...or maybe I will try stuffed manicotti again (despite the last time really pissing me off and my refusing to eat it).

Does your partner like Mexican food or southwestern food?

Or are you going to work on comfort foods first?

I gotta run. Er, sleep.

We both love Mexican food. I am not familiar with what qualifies as SW food. Neither of us are guacamole fans.

I am basically going to work on things which I think I would like eating or he would like eating. I am actually thinking about replicating the "Chik-fil-a" recipe. I am going for the spicy version. I have been saving the pickle juice from my Claussen's spicy pickles. So, we shall see.

You have suggestions?

The only downside? They don't turn in the microwave because they are too large and square, but they are wicked cool and match our color scheme.
