(28,506 posts)I get a half gallon at the store for $2.29. All the ingredients + my time with this recipe = more expensive almond milk. I just don't see any reason to do this. I have many other recipes I'd try before this. Though it is easier to make than I thought.

(111,383 posts)but cow or goat milk. When I needed milk for baking or any other purpose (except drinking, I hated drinking cow's milk with a purple passion when I was a kid and the years have not changed that) I'd buzz up some raw cashews and water.
Almonds were more expensive than unroasted cashew bits and pieces at that time.
The process was the same: measure, buzz, add optional flavor, strain.
Starting in 82 or so, they finally noticed how many of us were lactose intolerant and soymilk appeared in dairy cases.

(12,704 posts)That said almonds like any nuts are pricey. What is extra healthy about making one's own is that one can eat the pulp which is full of nutrients.
