Related: About this forumToday I'm smoking pipe tobacco and a pork shoulder on my back porch
I put the pork shoulder in the smoker 13 hours ago and it still has several more hours before it's going to be done.
The smell of cherry pipe tobacco and roasting pork is quite enticing.

(36,827 posts)This time of year I don't smoke the pipe much either, but this morning the smell on the back porch was too hard to resist staying out there a while. Thank Jebus my porch is covered and I have a nice ceiling fan. It's already over 90 degrees and the mercury is still rising. At least the 100+ days are behind us.

(10,129 posts)It appears we're entering into our patented Pac NW rainy season, which is great for my mushroom hunting, but not so great for relaxing outside with a good scotch and cigar/pipe after feasting on said foraging treasures lol.

When I had my house built that was one thing I insisted on. About mid-June through this time of year it's too hot to enjoy it much, but the rest of the year is great. In the winter the days when it's too cold are few. I live in North Texas.

(4,742 posts)Quite seriously, if you do it right tobacco smoking can add some interesting flavor. You have to be careful though, or it will end up tasting like an ashtray. Tobacco marinating/curing is also an option, look up Fat Duck Coconut 'Baccy for details.
