and I'd expect her to continue in that vein instead of suddenly becoming pious overnight. Changes are more permanent when they're gradual and I fully expect them to start sneaking in here and there.

Her food, IMO, is party food. Anyone who tries to live on it as daily fare ends up looking like the Huckabee family.

And....linking up with a pharma company to push medicine when it needs a lifestyle change - so essentially taking $ from both ends.

I've never liked her, and I like her even less now....

but one thing I learned in decades of working with people is that they're the ones who decide just how far and how fast they will take lifestyle changes. I could only tell them what would help them live longer complication free. They had to decide if it was worth it to them.

As I said, I think her food is party food. I don't care what she's fighting, she's just not going to change that.

My blood sugar and cholesteral can rise just watching her show. LOL I would hope people watching her show would not fix her recipes on a daily basis. I saw a commercial about a new show her son is doing. He is taking her recipes and making them healthy.

but I have never seen her claim her recipes were for the health conscious. And her sons have been bringing healthy recipes on to the show for years, especially the younger one.

She is in a position to do a lot of good as a result of this situation, I expect that she will do just that.

and I have seen her show (mostly older episodes) many times. SHE NEVER said moderation. Ever. She gloated about how over the top her recipes were. I still can't find the one I'm talking about online, but she put an ENTIRE full size candy bar on top of EACH serving of the dessert...which was actually a pretty good looking recipe to that point. THAT is not moderation. That is being over the top for entertainment's sake. Fine, that was her shtick. Why can't she just own that?

I know people don't rush out and make what they see her make and eat it every day. I LIKE the stuff in her Paula Deen Celebrates cookbook which I own, but I still think it's wrong to come out now saying she preached moderation all along.

While she was going through the contents of her refrigerator and naming one fat-filled, incredibly unhealthy thing after another, her husband came in to make his weight watchers meal.

He knew, she knew. She's a fraud and shameless.

Now we know that Paula Deen has made a partnership with a pharma that makes a diabetic drug, to market the drug as a "new way of looking at diabetes." Kaching, kaching, kaching!

I watched the Deens on ABC this morning. On "The Chew" with Mario Battali and Michael Symon et al. She was crying and choking up and everyone was patting her and Symon even said the reason she has diabetes is because she's so SWEET. Gag me.

She says she didn't talk about it before because she couldn't get her head around it, but now she has something to say (and has figured out the best monetization).

She did scarf down a big piece of cake on the show (it was said to be "diabetic-friendly" but was a huge white cake with thick frosting). She says that eating fattening food is "part of the puzzle."

Kaching, kaching, kaching!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ indeed. But....people watch, and money talks. just more evidence of how silly the human race is becoming.

Actually, here are the ingredients for said healthy lasagna

1/2 pound extra-lean ground beef
1 (10-ounce) package cremini or white mushrooms, finely chopped
1 medium onion, diced
1 small green bell pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (15-ounce) can no-salt-added tomato sauce
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can no-salt-added petite diced tomatoes
1 cup water
1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
2 bay leaves (optional)
3/4 teaspoon dried Italian herb seasoning
1/2 teaspoon Paula Deen’s House Seasoning
1/4 teaspoon Paula Deen’s Seasoned Salt
9 whole-wheat or reduced-carbohydrate lasagna noodles
1 1/2 cups no-salt-added low-fat cottage cheese
1 cup fat-free ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 large egg
1 large egg white
1 cup shredded reduced-fat mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese (preferably Swiss or Comte)
1 cup shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese
3 tablespoons reduced-fat cream cheese (Neufchâtel), cut into small bits

Carbs? Fat? Calories?

A total of 6 cups plus 3 T cheese.

How many servings, I wonder.

The Italian side of me is gagging at the thought of putting Gruyere, cheddar, cream cheese, and cottage cheese in a lasagna. You can make a perfectly delicious and healthier lasagna with low-fat ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. Cut some silken tofu into the ricotta if you want to make it even healthier. Or, make it Florentine with some spinach.

Ironic.

Why more, more, more cheeses? If she was trying to build layers of flavor, why not some roasted red peppers or some fresh spinach, etc.
