(2,674 posts)I've got to find an empty water bottle. Oh! here's one in the recycle bin. Wait, I better wash first. On no! there's still water in the bottle. I'll turn up to drain for a while......That didn't take too long, about 10 minutes. Now I can separate those three eggs that have been sitting on counter so I can finish my cake. But wait, I had the butter and sugar creamed and fluffy, but now they have sat so long that the butter is getting too soft and the mixture is breaking down. Well, too bad, I'll make the cake anyway. Let me add my egg yolks. Oh dear, my batter is curdling. Maybe I can bring back together when I start adding the milk and flour. Give a little hand stir and see if I can smooth it some, that should pull it together. Beat the egg whites and fold them in. Pop that cake in the oven...............Smells good. I'm taking it out of the oven, doesn't look so good, did not rise enough and the edges aren't soft. Well let me cut a slice, put a little whipped cream on it. Cake is okay, but is not soft and moist. Think the old hand way of separating eggs will work better for me.

(16,334 posts)that I just haven't felt a need to improve. It's so easy to separate and keep the yolk whole just by using your hand. I'd rather wash my hands than rinse out a plastic bottle (if I even have one in the recycle bin.)
