(29,098 posts)I have lots of fresh veg and the first of my garden tomatoes to get rid of. I was hoping to make the potato salad this morning but I forgot to run the dishwasher last night and I don't feel like cleaning my dishwasher safe cutting boards by hand So i may just opt to throw some fries in the Actifry. It's gonna be hot here in the PNW today. In the eighties! . At least it's not humid so I don't expect to melt too much. My house doesn't get really hot until 5 or so ....I may be singing a different tune then and just opt to go and eat Movie Theater pop corn.
I just don't do the heat!

(29,098 posts)But SO doesn't like grilled food even on a gas grill. (Don't get me started, I don't get it either...) So I have it marinating in some home made vinegerette, the exact same one I am putting on the potato salad but with lots more black pepper. I may just cook it on top of the stove and finish it with a little butter and wine for a pan sauce. But there is always the broiler.

(175,733 posts)Don't much like regular buns and used to eat burgers bunless until I discovered pretzel buns.

(35,662 posts)I bought some from Trader Joe's and thought they were too dense. Never bought them again, but then it doesn't really make any difference now because I'm off bread. But I'm curious to see if that's a characteristic of that type of bread.
We had an early dinner because no one here had any time until late afternoon:
Breaded pork chop. The RG pounded it flat so it was kind of thin. It was served with roasted red and yellow peppers.
Beets, cold. Chioga type.
My Asian cole slaw that I made yesterday. I didn't put the dressing on all of it and saved it for another meal. The RG tasted it first and said it was just a tad too acidic, so he corrected it.
Eggplant with capers and olive oil.
Salad with tomatoes, basil, and endive.
Part of a bottle of white and later we broke open a red.
For dessert we had the most fabulous madelines, which we dipped in the wine. They must have just been baked; tasted so fresh!

(19,288 posts)It's about the 3rd night. I had the best salad last night however. Strawberries in mixed greens with maple pecans. Strawberry vinaigrette. OMG! So good! If you get a chance to try it don't be afraid. I would have been.

(2,016 posts)I have about 6 oz. of ahi tuna, so I figured I'd make Hawaiian poke. I just might be a little radical and add chopped, seeded cukes, too.
