What's for Dinner? ~ Saturday January 21st!

I ended up not eating last night and Bill made Chinese for himself and a friend, so we are going to try the sausage and peppers again tonight.

What's for dinner where you are?

1. I'm hoping we will go out for dinner tonight!

I don't have a back-up plan if we don't.

3. We are supposed to sometime in this 3 days off in a row that Bill has

but I am not feeling well and we are having a big rain storm today....hope you have a great night out!

2. No clue. I'm dropping my eldest off at the airport on her way to Budapest today.

I'm not sure any of us will be hungry again until she notifies us that she safely landed in Hungary.

10. I never have. The only times I was out of the country was going to Canada.

5. I'm going to learn to panfry flounder and snapper

found both at the market yesterday, wild caught from Canada and US. First fish I've bought in months. I just hope I can manage to eat some, I know it's good for me except for the mercury and other toxins..

I love snapper. Definitely my favorite fish.

18. the snapper was really good, and I was thrilled with my cast iron..

Just a little sticking, but it's new and needs a little more seasoning. My eggs came out perfect from the same pan this morning

The flounder sucked, turned to mush so it must have been previously frozen. The cats loved it.

20. I love my cast iron too. I even use it for casseroles most of the time.

I have a really big skillet in my collection that I use instead of my roasting pans a lot of the time. It's heavy, but the handle makes it easier for me to get it out of the oven. Plus things are just better in cast iron!.

11. Not sure. Something with the beer crepe batter I made this morning

I really wanted crepes this morning but realized we were out of milk. It's snowing all day so no going to the store. I found a few recipes using milk and beer in crepes. I decided to try some with just beer. I made it with a bottle of New Castle. It turned out well. I had one with egg and cheese and my wife had one with jelly. I'm thinking of beer crepes with mushrooms, onions, and cheese for dinner tonight.

19. They were good. I cooked up some onions, peppers, leeks, and mushrooms in a little red wine.

It could have used a little sauce of some type but I'm not sure what.

12. Going for carryout pizza tonight as we're bushed from shoveling 8"+ of snow.

Tomorrow morning I fire up the crock pot for beef stew.
Buttermilk Biscuits are on the menu as well.
I luvs me some crock pot on a lazy Sunday.

16. We haven't had snow, just lots of cold rain.

Pizza sounds like a good reward for all that shoveling.

13. Roast piece of pork, green beans w/almonds, potato. Cuke & red onion salad.

Sliced cheese and grapes on the side.

Good day to put the oven on. It's cool, wet and windy here.

I usually don't mind, but it's getting old. My bones want some sunshine.
