in supermarkets either. i found one once at AJ's back when my mom was alive. it was $55.00 but big enough to cut in half for 2 meals -- it was just 3 of us. my husband passed 5 years ago so it's just me. i don't cook anymore.

saba's mediterrean restaurant on tatum and greenway has shank of lamb cooked in a tomato sauce. i like just plain lamb seasoned with some salt and pepper.

i used to buy lamb chops and cook them in a reynolds plastic bag along with potatoes and carrots. made an interesting meal without pots to clean.

Sounds good to me. Haven't had lamb in ages. Chops are going for $12.99/lb. is the reason why. They were $7.99/lb. for a long long time and suddenly this big jump in prices! Why? I don't know but no more rib chops for me!

We usually had roast beef on Easter. It was a great compromise, it always tasted like roast beef no matter what my mother tried to do it.

but as we're Jewish we had it whenever we wanted, not only for any holiday! And ham too! Had a special purveyor when we visited Vermont!

unless they're Muslim. We've got 2 Halal meat shops in town.

I don't know why I've always reacted badly to lamb and mutton. There went my fantasy of getting a little land and putting sheep on it.

Neither do I care for the 'mutton' taste. 'Clean' lamb's OK with me. Had lamb chops often.

Once a sheep is past peak wool production, they've got to be meat and there's no market for it.

Most people who eat it here raise it themselves. Like I said, there is little market for it.

Now days, we're doddering empty nesters and a small ham is enough to feed us for several meals. Secretly, I'd like to cook a corned beef instead.

too many rams in a herd could be. Same with goats, most herds are females, only, the billy is kept by one guy who rents him to service all the farms in the area because they're a PIA to keep.

Here in the city, it's chickens. Somebody in the area has a rooster and my neighbor's hens used to try to crow back at him.

is lamb and goat. If you have not tried goat, it's great as long as you don't use a billy.
