https://cooking.nytimes.com/68861692-nyt-cooking/16755-our-most-refreshing-summer-drinks?

They forgot MY favorite, Vodka Gimlet:

1 1/2
ounce gin or vodka
1
ounce fresh lime juice
1
ounce simple syrup
Ice cubes
Lime wheel or lime zest for garnish, if desired

1
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
2
Add the vodka, lime and simple syrup.
3
Shake rapidly for about 20 seconds.
4
Strain into rocks glass filled with ice.
5
Add desired garnish. P.S. I recall many make it with Rose's Lime Juice. May get some!

might have to institute a cocktail hour and dedicate some evenings to a tasty beverage more often this summer. so far it was a couple peach ales on Tuesday night.

My drink recipe requires just 2 ingredients.

Buy a big watermelon, whole.
Drill a deep hole (as close to center of melon as possible)
big enough for a small funnel to fit.
Insert funnel, pour in rum or vodka slowly without overflowing .
Let sit for 30 min.
Pour more booz without overflowing.
Let sit another 30 min.
Pour more booz without overflowing.

If you want a really intoxicating drink repeat
the whole process one more time.

Let the melon rest for an hour at room temp.
Then insert a straw and suck the heavenly juice.

I love a gin gimlet, for sure.

My husband mixes a mean margarita, too, which is awesome, and I love the classic gin and tonic with just a dash of bitters and a lime wedge.

If I'm feeling motivated I'll enjoy a frosty mint julep with some good southern rye or (my personal favourite) good Kentucky bourbon.

And there's a frozen drink that I learned at a Sandals resort in Jamaica once. It's a blend of ice, bananas, rum, rum cream (like Bailey's but with rum, the most popular brand is called Sangster's), simple syrup, and a touch of coffee liqueur (like Kaluha). They called it a Dirty Banana (those Sandals bartenders were flirts with the ladies).

I made them as a celebration when I finished chemo, but it was too soon for this non-drinker (tummy rebelled). Months have passed, it's hot hot hot, and I think tonight's the night to try again! i bought special glasses, after all.
