What's for Dinner, Mon., July 10, 2017

We're going out to dinner at the place on the cliff that overlooks NYC. Caramelized onion-mushroom pizza for an appetizer.

For dinner, most likely steak with vegetables.

They have some fabulous chocolate desserts, so I'm definitely having one. The one I want is shaped in a round circle and has a triangle chocolate wafer with a circle in the middle of it and is place on top, held up by a couple chocolate sticks. Looks like an abstract work of art!

The one I had the last time was shaped like a gold bar and was covered with gold!

our leftovers until this comparison. At home, too. Sigh.

Last of the chili with tortilla chips and salad. From a favorite unfussy old Sunset Magazine recipe that avoids chili-cult complexity and still tastes great. Smoked paprika, cumin, hot pepper, chili powder.

Enjoy your lovely evening.

the recipe is hamburger and canned beans. This is almost the only thing I have hamburger in the freezer for because it makes such a good, quick pantry dinner. Sometimes I use chuck roast because it's around and dried beans, poblanos perhaps, but that's only somewhat better, more "company-ready." And I like it with chipotle chiles, but hubby prefers the old version. The old recipe's still being published: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/smoky-beef-and-bacon-chili

NJCher, you inspired me to think of at least dining on the porch, but 91 degrees out there in the shade, so even with ceiling fans it's not going to happen.

And I am out of naan😦. Recipe is from Meatless Monday.com(not mine, no benefit to me). Cold decaf tea, cubed watermelon later.

I've not decided which yet, we baked a ham a few days ago. There is a Jambalaya like dish with mushrooms, ham, smoked sausage, and shrimp. I also spy a pasta dish as well, ingredients unknown.

I'm leaning towards the Jambalaya, but I need to cool off first. I been trying to mow the 92 degree lawn. Perhaps a ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese sandwich with lots of lettuce and other veggies plus sides of potato and pasta salad.

Can't decide.
Maybe some of all of it.

You're killing me with that description!
I sauteed chicken cutlets and then simmered in a sauce composed of Dijon mustard, white wine, and soy sauce. It's very good. Green beans crispy from the oven and brown rice.
But today, I made pineapple sherbet! I had all the ingredients left over from other dishes, so it worked out perfectly. I've become a sherbet-aholic...I want to make raspberry-lime next.

I have a Cuisinart ice-cream maker. Fruit, sugar, milk or half-and-half or cream. So far I've made lemon and pineapple. Good and easy, and it tastes so much better than bought.

We ate with my brother-in-law and his wife. They made a lovely spicy marinara sauce with shrimp over vermicelli. Roasted asparagus and good wine. Life is grand...and I finally got a job today after six months of looking
