What's for Dinner, Wed., July 26, 2017

It could very well be a can of Pringles (cheddar cheese flavor) and an English toffee candy bar, since the RG worked so hard on felling a dead tree this morning. Prol’ly won’t feel like cooking after all that.

I’m at work and that’s all I had time to grab at the drugstore on the way here.

...to find junk food in this establishment!

I made swordfish from my fave Cooks Illustrated recipe, with green beans AND asparagus, and potato salad, all with the same dressing/marinade, of olive oil, lemon juice, thyme and garlic.

I'm just kidding.

I got back an hour ago from doing an outdoor band setup and drank Gatorade (lemon-lime) and ate a little macaroni salad (Kroger). I have to go back in about an hour so I don't feel like eating much.

When I return around 10, I'll have some leftovers, perhaps some Jambalaya or spaghetti and meat sauce. I'll be hot and tired so no cooking or prep for me.

is what I made and left for the spouse. I am going out with friends and will probably order a salad because it's too damn hot to eat.

My husband upset what uninspired plans I had by bringing bass filets home, so I tossed the last of the potatoes, some bacon and butter (yes, I know, but the broth and leftovers is why I take a fancy to make this once or twice a year), fresh thyme, bay leaf, pepper and chicken broth in a pot to simmer. Last of the green beans on top to steam in the last minutes. Sauteing felt like too much trouble too, which is pretty bad!, so I dropped the fish in some of the broth that was just sitting there. Sliced tomatoes with a little garlic and pepper. I don't mind admitting this since we actually ended up enjoying it. He prefers his fish sauted, though, just so I know.

we are having leftovers. Marinated grilled London broil, yellow potatoes with skins on and a fruit salad...store bought cookies for desert.
